Product Configurator (take-off) Issue or Problem
Short Answer:
Enter a ticket in the IT service catalog. You can use this link if you have an open JOE session in the background.
Long Answer:
When you find something wrong with a product configurator the issue needs to be communicated to the developer with responsibility for that product. Think of product configurators as separate apps, like third party apps you have on your smart phone. The Bid Manager shell is the operating system, in this example, and those developers for the shell are separate from the ones that work on the product configurators. In order to resolve issues with a product configurator you must enter a ticket in the IT service catalog for it to be routed to the appropriate developer. Make sure to include as much information as possible including screenshots and a neg number or job that the issue is present on. If problems persist with the configurator and the IT ticket has not resolved the issue, reach out to the product line directly.
Geography or RFQ Routing Issue
Short Answer:
First, check to see if the Vista sales assignment is correct. Second, check that your filters are correct in the Bid Manager view. If you cannot find the issue, enter a ticket in the IT Service Catalog. To add additional geography to your sales ID, you can use this link if you have an open JOE session in the background.
Long Answer:
Geographies for Bid Manager are set up by the business to keep pricing, pricing requests, and customers contained to specific territories. When you add a new geography to the Sales ID, it will allow you to support Distributors/Customers in that territory. You will also be listed on that geography team under your account settings. When changes are made to sales geographies in Vista, this can affect how you see RFQ’s from customers.
Printing and Document Service Issue
Short Answer:
Enter a ticket in the IT service catalog. If the issue is that you aren’t receiving the output document or other technical issue, you can use this link if you have an open JOE session in the background. If the issue is with the output document content on a product, then the issue might be related to the configurator in which case you can use this link if you have an open JOE session in the background.
Long Answer:
Documentation service and quick print are similar in the way the document is delivered, however, you can get a preview of the document immediately when you use the Documenation Service function. Document service queue tool is available to add to your bid manager home screen (see reference here).
Office 365 and Document Service Issue

3. Double click on Office365Fix.bat file and run it. This will update the required registry values.
4. Try again to open the Bid Manager document that was having the error and verify if it is opening correctly.
5. If this resolution does not work, please enter a ticket in the IT Service Catalog.
Long Answer:
Users with Office 365 on their machine they may see issues with files from Bid Manager Export or/and from Document Service.
Common issues which can be seen are: File doesn’t open and gives error or File opens in different program, for example, excel document opens in notepad.
To fix this issue we have to update some settings in the registry on user’s machine. We have created batch file which will update the registry. Follow the steps above.
Suggestions for Improving Bid Manager
The best way to suggest improvements for Bid Manager is to create an enhancement request ticket. By entering the enhancement request, the ticket can be prioritized and tasked appropriately. You can use this link if you have an open JOE session in the background.
Someone Left the Company, We Need Access to Those Jobs
Short Answer:
First, enter a ticket in the IT Service Catalog to make sure that the Sales ID is terminated. You can use this link if you have an open JOE session in the background. Second, enter a separate ticket if all of the previous users jobs should be assigned to another user.
Long Answer:
When a user ID is terminated in Bid Manager, the jobs that were previously managed by that person will be given a generic ID (ZZZZ). When these jobs are searched for, another active user can take control of the job by opening it and clicking on the button in the top toolbar “Take Ownership” and the job will then be reassigned to them (see reference here). If a mass migration of jobs is needed for transferring ownership, a separate ticket should be entered for that request. If the location of a sales person changes, a ticket for changing that ID location can be entered here if you have an open JOE session in the background.
