Support Options – System Startup
There are two System Startup options available to the dealer in CAT Bid Man :
· Level 1 by Dealer, Level 2 by ISO/EESS
· Level 1 by Dealer, Level 2 by Dealer
Level 1
Responsibilities (complete information and checklists are provided to trained Dealer Service Techicians) :
· Preliminary and pre-start-up inspection
· Engine generator inspection
· Pre-DC power up switchboard inspection
· Set generator voltage and frequency
· Energizing of DC power on switchboard
· Power cable inspection
· Running engine generators
· Alarm testing (engine alarms and shutdowns)
· Crank and run generators from touchscreen
· Control generator voltage and frequency from touchscreen
Level 2
Responsibilities (complete information and checklists are provided to trained Dealer Service Techicians) :
(to be performed by dealer once level 2 qualified)
Level 1 responsibilities
· Paralleling generators
· Tuning the engines for parallel operations
· Mode of operation testing
· Alarm testing (system alarms)
· Miscellaneous (load testing portion)
· Customer training
· Customer acceptance testing
· ISO Responsibility
· ISO will provide start-up design (checklist) indicating necessary steps to complete the start-up
Phone support will be provided via the ISO Help Desk @ 1-866-883-3879
Onsite support by ISO is not included when level 1 or 2 tasks quoted to be performed by dealer. If required, this will be at an additional charge.
The Generator kW rating selection determines generator breaker size.
The selections are based on the maximum kW size allowed at the selected voltage for the following breaker frame sizes : 800A, 1600A, 2000A, 3000A.
Selecting A 2000 KW Generator rating would provide a 3000A breaker.
If a 1750KW Generator was needed, the 2000 KW should be chosen, then under ”Breaker Properties” the correct trip setting would need to be selected.

Product Family – Standard Configurable Product
There are three standard configurable switchgear product family offerings that use PowerLynx® technology:
· XLM
· XLM (Emergency Transfer (Xfer) and Load Management)
· XLM switchgear supports 1 – 4 Caterpillar engine generator sets with one Utility Source, in Standard Configurable Product available in CAT Bid Manager.
More generators can be controlled via Custom Switchgear.
· Used for mission-critical applications
· XLM1 can be applied in conjunction with Caterpillar UPS Systems.
· Automatic Transfer to Emergency upon Utility failure
· Automatic Start, Synchronize, Parallel and Load Share on a common bus for Emergency operation
· Closed transition transfer back to Utility upon stable return of power, with soft generator unloading
· Closed transition Load Management Mode with soft loading and unloading of generator system
· Closed transition transfer to Emergency Mode to facilitate maintenance, or for storm threat avoidance with soft loading and unloading of generator system
· Load shed/add • Generator demand priority
· Cost effective, technically superior alternative to conventional ATS arrangement
EGP
EGP (Emergency Generator Paralleling)
EGP supports 2 – 5 Caterpillar engine generator sets.
· Automatic Start, Synchronize, Parallel and Load Share on a common bus
· Main Lugs Output to feed downstream emergency distribution switchboard
· Optional Emergency Distribution CBs
· Load shed/add • Generator priority demand
Caterpillar switchgear is designed to integrate hand-in-glove with Caterpillar Automatic Transfer Switches.
For use with multiple downstream Automatic Transfer Switches
EGP is optionally available with direct communication to CAT ATSs to provide “fingertip” control
Used for legally required standby applications; it is commonly used in conjunction with Caterpillar Automatic Transfer Switches for hospital or other applications.
LM
LM (Load Manager)
Used for base loading or peak shaving applications and can be applied to retrofit existing standby systems for enhanced load management.
Utilizes a single diesel or natural gas generator set to operate in parallel with the utility company for load management peak shaving.
Standardized, simple, cost effective control switchgear for local or remotely initiated starting, stopping, synchronizing, utility paralleling, load management, and distributed generation. Does not have Standby capability.
Available as:
· Base loading export
· Utility set-point import peak shaving
Custom
Custom (Custom Generator and Utility Paralleling Switchgear)
If our three configurable switchgear offerings do not fit your needs, we offer fully customized solutions.
